I was thrilled to see my images from Jemma + Ashley’s wedding in a perfect day feature in Queensland Brides Magazine.  A big thanks to Urbane Resturant for choosing their wedding to feature!

Tip 1

Have a makeup trial.  Research different makeup looks that you love, discuss them and try them  with your makeup artist.  If  your wedding has a theme or colour scheme, for example your wedding may have a vintage look therefore you might want to have bold red lips and eyeliner. 

Tip 2

Less is more.  If you are not a makeup wearer it is best to keep your makeup natural and subtle looking.  If you are a makeup wearer this still applies as a heavy smokey eye may look hot now but in years to come will look dated.   Try a subtle smokey eye using brown and beige tones that are blended well.  Keep to neutral tones for eyes and choose a look with a classic edge. 

Tip 3

Consider airbrushed foundation.  It is long lasting, sweat proof and tear proof.  You won’t need to touch up your foundation during the day and will feel flawless and fresh all day.  This is a huge advantage considering how long your wedding day is from start to finish.

Tip 4

Don’t use too much shimmer on the skin or eyes, as it tends to look greasy under flash photography.   Too much shimmer can also excentuate fine lines and wrinkles.  A subtle touch of shimmer on the eyes or a sweep of highlight on the cheekbone is enough to make you look radiant without aging you.

Tip 5

Make sure you have your eyebrows shaped.  Eyebrows are essential to shaping your eyes and making you look more polished. Have this done 2 weeks before the big day and tidy up any strays that need it in the lead up.

Tip 6

Consider wearing false eye lashes.  The most natural looking are the cluster lashes.  A few on the outer edges of your lashes will make them look slightly thicker and longer.  Strip lashes on the other hand cover the whole last line and make your eyes pop even more than the cluster lashes.

Tip 7

Spray tanning. Have a trial first and if you’re happy with the outcome make sure to book that same person for your wedding spray tan.  Ask for a natural looking tan as this will give you a sun-kissed look rather than the unsightly orange look we all know. 

Tip 8

Exfoliate your lips a few times during the week of your wedding.   This will ensure your lips are soft and plump.  Make sure to carry your lipstick in your touch-up kit as you will need to reapply it throughout the day and evening.

Tip 9

Take a few pictures of your makeup with a flash as this will give you an idea of how your makeup will look. You will be able to tell immediately if your makeup stands out enough in pictures and for the professional shots.

Tip 10

Pack a touch up kit: Lipstick, oil blotting sheets, tissues, lash glue, deodorant, perfume, Qtips. You will need these few survival items for freshening up throughout the night.

Back in November I did a model portfolio shoot with Simone.  This was Simone’s first ever shoot and she did a great job!  When we did the shoot Simone and her family were in their last couple of weeks in Brisbane before returning to live in the UK where Simone was planning on going to see some modeling agencies.  I just heard from Simone and she has been signed by Base Models in the UK!  Congratulations Simone I know we are going to see great things come your way!
